Introduction to Sound Arts

Blog Post: write about your experience of the campus listening exercise and include as much media (photographs, sounds) as possible.

This lessons was about the different types of sounds and what they mean. The main three types of sounds are; Sound Signal, Keynote, and Sound mark. for this lesson, we discussed what these sounds mean and what could count into each category. We were then told to go around LCC and find what we think would go into each category. for example, A Sound Mark is a sound which is recognisable and iconic.

My sound mark was the sound of the sign in machine. I have heard the sound so much that now if I were to hear it somewhere else I would immediately think of UAL. Another sound mark was the sound of the floorboards that go into the sound arts area. they have a very distinct creak to them. there’s a few particular floorboards that make a really loud noise when you step on them, one of them being in the door way to the media block.
