Introduction to Sound Arts

Identify three everyday sounds that contain qualities such as rhythm, texture or pitch. write about these sounds in a blog post and if possible, include any recordings

This lesson was about the different types of listening/sound types, including; Acousmatic Sound/Listening and Musique Concrete. We looked into how each time of piece was created, the history and how they can be listened to. We also looked into some good books on the subject of sound; Pink Noises, Sound an acoulogical treatise and Sound Objects.

Rhythm: the sound of my tumble dryer doing a load, it has a rhythm as it moves around. it creates almost a type of song.

Pitch: the sound of my google alarm. The alarm has its own type of rhythm and has a large variety of pitches. The majority of them being higher pitched

Texture: The sound of my cat’s purring. The purr has different layers of sounds. The pitch and Rhythm and constantly changing and evolving.
