Creative Sound Projects 2Year 1

what could have been Pt 1

I am unlikely to use the sound I recorded for my “forms of water” piece, but I still wanted to talk about this because I took photos to document my process and I still used this process for Waves and Wonder. I recorded all sound I took for this unit with my iPhone and skull candy headphones with a lighting connector. I have never seen the need to use fancy mics, you can get pretty good quality with just a phone nowadays. I will attach the process photos below and my next blog will be about the actual sounds.

This is my phone suspended over a filled tub of water, I was splashing through this water and dropping ice into it. My setup is clearly very sophisticated.
This is how I recorded the sound of a kettle boiling, I had to make sure the microphone was close enough to the kettle to pick up the little sounds.
oh look it me. this is my hand moving around the water to make splashing, wave like sounds. this water was freezing and my hand did go blue momentarily.
This is ice after I dropped it into the tub, if you drop it from height it sounds like rain hitting the ground. holding ice in my hand was very hard and cold.
